  • WELCOME!

    HI! I am Mia and I love photography. I am owner of a boutique portrait studio, Mia J. Photography, in Los Angeles. I created this site to share my work and what I know about taking a beautiful photograph. So stop by often, see some beautiful images, read my crazy stories, and find some joy and laughter. I am so glad to share.

    LOVE, SHARE, and ENJOY!

Why is This Portrait Cute?

Super cuteness revealed | Silver Lake Photographer | Los Angeles | Do it yourself |

Why is this photo so cute? I look at it and I want a 20×30 on my wall. It makes me melt. I’ve got some secrets to share.

I bribed my son to get this shot. He was wiggly and didn’t want to sit for the photo. I told him I would give gummy bears if he would let me take a photo. All of the sudden, I had this amazing willing model. Voila…a beautiful picture is born. And I love the image and it will probably get blown up and put on the wall.

What kind of photographer does that make me? I think I just really understand kids. Sometimes.

Union Station Los Angeles {Alicia + Graham}

Engagement Photographer | Union Station Los Angeles | Mia J. Photography

You know it’s a day to brag about when the fiance of your bride says, “This is the most fun I’ve had in weeks.”

Alicia and Graham are my new best friends. I just took some of the most amazing portraits. Their wedding is coming up in October so we took the opportunity to do their engagement pics this weekend. They dressed up fancy and brought vintage suitcases with them as props. They were so game for having some fun. It reminds me of how creativity can flow when you have the right dynamics.  That is what we had today.

Encore for Aria

Silver Lake Photographer | Mia J. Photography | Child Portraiture |

I just shot Aria Birthday party a few weeks ago. Mom and Aria just came in for a viewing. She was sporting the cutest outfit and was so game for a few shots. Everything in my reasonable being says not to pick up the camera. Because then I end up spending 1+ hour looking, editing, and loving the photos. They are like gifts for the eyes and hearts. Oh temptation. Here you go. It’s diamonds and pearls in my pocket. I love photos like this.

My Favorite Shot {David and Connie Wedding}

Pasadena Arcadia Wedding Photographer | Arboretum Los Angeles | Arcadia, CA |

When I photograph a wedding my goal is to capture a real story and images that will make people cry, smile and laugh. That is really important to me.

I have to admit. I probably have taste that is a little different from most. This photograph, is just that. The bride was taking a moment while we waited for the tram to pick us up. The peacock decides to take center stage. I love this.
